Biography

Erna Witte, age 93 of Napoleon, Ohio and formerly of Adams Township, Defiance County died on Wednesday evening at the Lutheran Home at Napoleon.
She was born August 20, 1916 in Adams Township, Defiance County to the late Charles and Emma (Gerken) Gerken. On September 2, 1934 she married Paul C. Witte and he died on June 13, 2004.
Erna was a devoted homemaker, clerk, and retired from Fulton Tubing. Erna was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona and member of the Strauss Mission Circle.
She is survived by sons Charles Witte of Florida, Daniel (Nancy) Witte of Napoleon, and Jerry (Mary Lou) Witte of Lakeland, Florida; daughters Marietta Damman of Napoleon, Jean (Loren) Plassman of Defiance and Denise Lenhart of Florida; 22 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Richard Witte; a granddaughter and great grandson; her twin sister Verna Meyer and a sister Marie Shawber.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona, Ohio with the Rev. Lee Rupert. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 2-6 PM in the Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home and on Sunday for one hour prior to services at the church.
