Kenneth James Knepley, age 76 of Florida, Ohio, passed away early Saturday morning, July 24, 2010 at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
He was born October 1, 1933 in Florida, Ohio to the late Herman and Emma (Von Deylen) Knepley. He married Alice Behnfeldt on August 8, 1959.
Ken worked at General Motors in Defiance for 36 years. After his retirement from General Motors, he drove vehicles for Snyder Chevrolet in Napoleon, Ohio. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, fishing, boating and especially cheering on his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Florida, Ohio where he served as Chairman & Financial Secretary and Co-Chairman of the 125th Anniversary of the church. He also served on various church boards. He was a veteran of the Air Force during the Korean War, a life member of the American Legion, a member of the Napoleon V.F.W. and also served on the Napoleon Military Funeral Detail.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Knepley, of Florida, Ohio; sons Scott (Jean) Knepley of Defiance, Ohio and Jon Knepley of Napoleon, Ohio; a daughter Kristi (Mark) Wagoner of Batavia, Ohio; a sister Patricia Eberly of Napoleon, Ohio; 9 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
Ken was preceded in death by a brother Clayton Knepley and three sisters, Mildred Yekisa, Marciele Michaelis and Donna Michaelis.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Florida, Ohio with the Rev. Robert B. Azinger, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Memory Gardens, rural Defiance, Ohio with military honors accorded by the joint veteran posts of Napoleon.
Friends will be received on Tuesday 2-8 PM in the Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home in Napoleon and on Wednesday for one hour prior to services at the church.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 1p36 Deletion Support & Awareness, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
